Patience

Jean-Jacques Rousseau said that patience is bitter but its fruit is sweet. It’s not easy to be patient. We get angry so easily nowadays. We get annoyed by little things. We become irritated quickly. That’s not a good thing. We have to learn how to count to 10, breathe deeply and let it go. We have to learn how to choose our fights. We can’t just fight for everything that annoys us. Easier said than done meaning that it’s easier to say that but it’s much harder to do that. As a teacher, I’ve got to be patient because I have to explain the same thing over and over again. I also have to be patient to see my students’ progress as it takes quite a long time to develop and progress. I’m a mom too so I need to be patient with my children. I must admit that being patient at home is way more difficult than being patient in the classroom. Regardless of where we are, we must work on our patience. At the bank, at the supermarket, in a line, in traffic, etc. It doesn’t matter. Emotional intelligence is a must. It is defined as the ability to understand and manage your own emotions, as well as recognize and influence the emotions of those around you. How important is that? Extremelly important. How difficult is that? Extremelly difficult. There are lots of quotes about patience and some of my favorites are:

  • – Patience is the road to wisdom.
  • – Have patience with all things but first of all with yourself.
  • – To lose patience is to lose the battle.
